MEDITATION Join us for this ongoing, weekly
meditation practice at Self Awakening! Meditation is unsurpassed in
bringing you the understanding and practical skill needed to deal
with daily life. Learn simple ways to manage how you care for
your body, yourself and your responsibilities. Bring yoga's
most effective techniques to develop calmness, concentration,
awareness and well being into your practice. All
levels of experience are welcome and accommodated please feel free
to bring a journal if that is your practice or something you might
want to explore.
FORREST YOGA BASICS:
Forrest Yoga helps you connect to your core -
getting strong and centered. It uses carefully designed sequences,
internal heat, and deep breathing to sweat out toxins. The long
holds in the pose progressions help you flush, oxygenate and
rejuvenate every cell. This Forrest basics class is suitable for all
levels but includes extra emphasis on the fundamentals of the
practice- an open heart, active feet, shoulder stability, deep
breathing, relaxed neck and proper pelvic tilt. This class is
perfect for raw beginners, those working with injuries and will
challenge even the most experienced yogi.
FOUNDATION FLOW:
For beginners that have built a foundation and intermediates that
are looking for a gentler flow. This class will increase strength,
flexibility, awareness and encourage mental focus and calmness and
is a great introduction to ALL Levels, Intermediate, and Heated
yoga.
COMMUNITY CLASS:
This is a donation-based yoga class held the last
Thursday of every month. The donation theme will change
monthly and will be posted in the studio and on our website. Please
check for details and bring appropriate donation with you to class. Thank

DEEP STRETCH:
This is a wonderful class for everyone, beginner, cancer patients,
students recovering from an injury and advanced students. Deep
Stretch is the perfect way to unwind and soothe your soul in this
restorative class. We will focus on relaxing the body in restful
postures, to provide the body an opportunity to renew and heal. Come
melt away stress! This class is sure to leave you feeling relaxed,
refreshed and renewed! Deep Stretch is a quiet, meditative yoga
practice that invites you to hold seated postures with relaxed
muscles allowing for the opening of deep connective tissues of the
joints. This practice is available to practitioners of all levels
and can be safe and beneficial for students with back, hip or
shoulder pain or injuries.
ALL LEVEL VINYASA FLOW YOGA:
This class is a blend of freestyle vinyasa Yoga~ awakening, mindful,
fluid flow designed to get you moving, bring your attention to the
breath and find fluidity between postures. This class is creative,
fun and playful! Excellent for developing grace, flexibility, core
strength, balance, muscular strength and stress reduction.
Appropriate for students of all levels of yoga.
ADVANCED HOT VINYASA FLOW YOGA:
This class is practiced in a heated studio at 90 degrees in order to
facilitate deep stretching and release of toxins. This class is for
those looking for a challenge and ready to take their practice to a
deeper level. Experience a flowing blend of different styles of
yoga. Each class has a different sequence of postures (asanas). This
is an intense class that will get the blood flowing, build core
strength, tone muscles, help you lose weight and quiet the mind. In
addition, students will be exploring arm balances, headstands,
handstands, deep back bends and twists.
HOUR OF POWER VINYASA FLOW YOGA:
An energetic hour filled with a fast paced asana (yoga pose) flow.
Utilizing our breath to guide our movement and concentrating on
alignment as we transition from pose to pose building strength and
increasing flexibility. The room is warmed to 75 - 78 degrees and
the time flies by with a pace that is uplifting and fun.
YOGA FOR KIDS – 9-14 YEARS;
SIX-WEEK TUESDAY AFTERNOON MORNING SERIES:
Yoga and children is a fabulous mix. In light
of today's growing concerns about the risks of childhood obesity, a
sedentary lifestyle, stress epidemics and eating disorders, arming
our children with invaluable life skills is every parent's
responsibility. Classes integrate more formal instruction with
playful activities to challenge students in their yoga process as
they learn postures and breathing exercises. Stress management
techniques and meditation are also focused on. Children derive
enormous benefits from yoga. Physically, it enhances their
flexibility, strength, coordination, and body awareness. In
addition, their concentration and sense of calmness and relaxation
improves. Doing yoga, children exercise, play, connect more
deeply with the inner self, and develop an intimate relationship
with the natural world that surrounds them. Yoga brings that
marvelous inner light that all children have to the surface.
YOGA FOR KIDS – 5 - 8 YEARS:
SIX-WEEK THURSDAY AFTERNOON MORNING SERIES: Cooperative
games with themes, partner yoga, storytelling, and music
combine to help this age group explore yoga postures and relaxation
skills (including breathing exercises).
PRENATAL YOGA - 6 WEEK SATURDAY MORNING SERIES:
Prenatal Yoga classes
provide an opportunity to develop greater vitality and awareness of
your body that is home for two, as well as to deepen your
relationship with your baby. Gentle postures, breath
work, visualization, vocal toning and meditation are learned to
cultivate flexibility, calm and confidence in preparation for labor
and childbirth. Enhance relaxation, comfort, and enjoyment. Calm and
flexibility ease the birthing process, thus reducing pain and
increasing the joy of giving birth. Prepare for an active
and natural birth. No previous yoga experience necessary.
MOM and BABY YOGA - 6 WEEK SATURDAY
AFTERNON SERIES:
This
is an effective start to balancing hormonal changes that are
occurring now that you have transitioned from Mom-To-Be To Mom.
This is a gentle approach to help your body
recover and heal from childbirth while bonding with your baby.
Added bonuses are the opportunity to bond and
share with other new moms and forge long lasting friendships for
both and your baby.
Share your challenges and successes and learn that you are not
alone!
In these classes, the teacher will place special
attention on rebuilding core strength of the back, abdomen, and
pelvic floor, as well as relieving tension in the neck, and
shoulders that often result from lifting, carrying and nursing. No
previous yoga experience is required
